It's always interesting to see how you tweak your paintings - adding color, painting over something, or whatever. How do you know when a painting is finished? You just somehow know?
How wonderful you might soon be teaching art in that small group setting. You'll be fantastic. I just know it. Plus, it'll be good practice for your next step you want to take in teaching art.
Thanks, Nancy! I know when a painting is finished when I get to the point where all the parts are working and making any more changes isn’t necessary. I often could, but I choose not to. Overthinking can take you too far and then it’s hard to backtrack. Sort of like editing a book. You might get frustrated with certain parts and want to throw a whole chapter out the window, but then you realize which parts are worth saving and you edit the other parts to make it cohesive.
First of all, happy anniversary! The paintings are really evolving! I love that you use collage elements in some and how freely you rework your artwork. As you say, "You never know where it will take you."
Teaching a small art workshop to psychiatric individuals sounds wonderful! What a great opportunity for you, and you will be helping these people. As you know, art is healing, so helping teach an art class will help these patients heal/recover.
What is going on in our country is so difficult to believe. Calling the LA protesters insurrectionists? Um....what about what happened on Jan. 6 2021? Oh, that's right; that was a peaceful protest. So Orwell's 1984 where the truth is rewritten as a lie in the guise of a truth.
Our country has gone to hell. Incompetent idiots running things.
I’m looking forward to teaching art. Right now I feel like I’m ready to start turning my crazy number of paintings into some finished works. I can’t believe how busy I am with this workshop. I might need to take next year off from CVP.

You’re right, it is like editing a book! At some point, you have to release it to the world.
