This morning I took the girls for an hour-long run around the lake. It was sunny for a while before clouding up this afternoon and raining this evening. While we were out, two big blue herons flew directly over our heads. It happened to fast for me to whip out my phone but they were amazing to watch.
Herons are a symbol of patience and persistence, self-reliance and inner strength, and staying focused. I need all of those things right now.

All the rain this week has helped the garden get off to a good start. Everything is standing up and growing. I wanted to go trail running and go to Manitou for the incline, but the weather has made everything slick and muddy, so I will have to wait for some drying time.

I did some painting but haven’t finished anything, I’m making some progress on a few pieces. I need to prep my boards for the series and for the commission paintings, but the weather has been uncooperative for board prep outside, and not enough room inside. Maybe this weekend I can get them done.
Here are a few of the pieces I’m working on, some might look familiar as I might have shared them in earlier stages.

I didn’t do a lot this week. I walked or ran every day, I went to see my doctor about my thyroid medication, and I’ll be upping my dose as soon as the new prescription comes in the mail. I’m looking forward to having more energy. Being home on rainy days has left me time to listen to podcasts and read other people’s Substack posts. I’ve also had a little time to doomscroll, get clickbaited, basically like reading trash magazines but instead, online and mostly about politics.
I got clickbaited by a title in a You Tube video and was so horrified I couldn’t stop watching it. It was all about the Diddy trial. I haven’t followed it at all, I never paid any attention to the Hollywood scene or the music scene. But watching the video it was so awful and I was completely shocked and so sad. Especially about Prince and Biggie, both musicians I really liked. I had no idea about the things going on. I was even more upset when I started to see how many celebrities were involved, and what he did to them, especially the young ones, even though I wouldn’t normally pay attention. Diddy is like a cross between Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein and Trump and something worse. He’s a monster and a predator.
The continued attention-grabbing by the Orange Pendejo wears everyone out. The bill that got through the House looks unlikely to get through the Senate, but these people are such liars that you never know. Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa summed up the bill in the typical GOP M.O., IGMFU. I’ve got mine, FU, saying “We all die.” In response to people yelling at her that the Medicaid cuts will lead to deaths. These people have no empathy and are sociopaths. Remember how she wasn’t going to vote for Hegseth but then she caved and voted for him?
Now Elon is gone, and rumor has it that he took Katie Miller, Stephen Miller’s wife, with him. Then Elon showed up at the Oval Office with a black eye, blaming it on his son, X. I wonder if it was the little Nazi Stephen Miller who decked him? I doubt we’ve heard the end of that story. You could not even make a screenplay out of this stuff.
June 14th is No Kings Day, the next big protest. It will be at the university here. We need to make it clear that we want the Pendejo impeached. BITFO! (Bring It The F. On!)
Have a good weekend, and thanks for reading!
Hi Alene,
Yeah, the "We all die" comment is a new low for us, and makes me sick. Where did the empathy go? Ah that's right; there's no empathy to be seen anywhere.
And Diddy makes me sick. What a disgusting excuse for a human. I didn't hear about Prince or Biggie being involved. That also makes me sick.
Onto a better topic, the bunny is adorable, and your artwork is looking good. I know you want to rework them, but I think you're onto something great at this point. I'm planning to join a protest on June 14, but I still feel a sense of hopelessness. Because nothing is being done to hold Pendejo accountable. This country is being run by a mob. They are all disgusting mobsters.
I love the rain and how the plants are responding. And perhaps I’ll see you at the June 14 event. I’ll be there!
