Hanukkah Run Night Four

Back on the trails!
3

Tonight’s run was on the Timber Trail, we ran partway up to the top and stopped at a saddle with some small pine trees, and decorated one of them with our lights. Then we ran back down. Night Four!

Tonight Stacey and I were both exhausted. We were both cold all day in our houses and wanted to get out and move. We did the Timber Trail it is a gentle climb and close in from the park entrance. It has loose switchbacks and meanders up the hillside, and it gains good altitude without feeling steep or difficult.

I got there a little early, with about 20 minutes to spare, so I got out to make sure I was dressed in the right amount of clothing and I first hiked up the short waterfall trail (video of the waterfall above) and then warmed up a little on the East Valley trail and went back to the parking lot, and Stacey was there. The trail was a little muddy with some ice in spots at the bottom, but after the first few curves it was clear.

There were a few mountain bikers out and not many hikers. We climbed the trail for about a half hour and then we saw a saddle with some pine trees maybe 100 meters off the trail. We climbed up there and hung our lights on a little tree, looked around, did a selfie, and ran back down. With my extra distance added on, I had 4 miles and about 1000 feet of ascent, and the same of descent. A perfect refreshing evening run to take the edge off, without making us more tired.

Tomorrow we have a plan for another trail, closer to town. See you after that! I’m hoping I have more energy tomorrow because I want to paint!
